Fighting Insurance Company Myths

For years automobile insurance companies have perpetrated the myth that without significant damage to a car, an occupant of that vehicle could not have sustained significant soft tissue damage. Even though their own research proved otherwise, it was always in their best financial interest to ignore the research.

According to manufacturers, automobile bumpers are supposed to withstand 5 mile per hour impacts before they sustain crush damage. The insurers took that as meaning that if the bumper sustained no damage the collision occurred at a speed of less than 5 miles per hour. In a recent independent study by the Spine Institute of San Diego it was proven that most bumpers can withstand an impact of 8 to 12 mph before sustaining

any crush damage.


Another study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety showed neck injuries can occur even with the slightest property damage.
